INGREDIENTS

Ginkgo biloba extracts has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) since at least the 11th century. Many scientific researchers attribute the beneficial effects of Gingko biloba to its strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, as well as its ability to improve blood circulation. Here, we explain why we use it in supplements for dogs.

Chinese Peony is widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It has many active components like polyphenols, and paeonol, but it's the paeoniflorin, a monoterpene glycoside, that's the most abundant component and main biologically active ingredient of the Chinese Peony root extract.

Research has shown that paeoniflorin has immunoregulatory, antidepressant, anti-arthritis, antithrombosis, anti-tumour, hepatoprotective, cerebral ischemic injury protective, and neuroprotective effects.

As we’ll see, this is why Chinese Peony is included as a key ingredient in both our Skin and Joint Thera-Chews™️ for dogs.

Boswellia is one of the most valued herbs in Ayurvedic (traditional Indian) medicine. In animal studies, Boswellia has been demonstrated to improve cognitive impairment, insulin resistance, and joint problems. It has been shown to preserve the structural integrity of joint cartilage. Here's why we use it in Bestie gummy chews.

We explain more.

Did you know that a by-product of carrot juice concentrate manufacture is pulp. And 25% of the carrot remains behind as pulp and although it contains nutrients and fibre, with no way of using it in bulk, it’s traditionally been lost as waste. We're incorporating more functional food by-products into our Bestie products, and NinjinFibre (carrot) is a key one. It's being progressively introduced into all our balancers and it's a key part of our Bestie health chews. Here's why.

Australian native fruit Quandong is an antioxidant powerhouse. It has the highest oxygen radical scavenging capacity (ORAC assay) among eight commercially grown native Australian fruits that include Kakadu plum, lemon aspen, Australian desert lime, Davidson’s plum, Finger lime (green and pink), Riberry, and blueberry. Vet Merliza explains why we use it in our Senior health chews.

Kakadu plum gained worldwide recognition when it was discovered that it is a fruit with the highest recorded levels of natural Vitamin C content in the world. Its powerful antioxidant properties is a key reason why Kakadu Plum is an ingredient in our Allrounder Balancer for Dogs and Cats, and our Cod & Plum Superfood Oil Blend. Here are some others.

The fruit of the Australian native Davdison plum is rich in flavonoids, vitamins, minerals and several other important secondary metabolites, such as anthocyanins as well as proanthocyanidins. We explain how that benefits dogs and why we include it in our supplements, especially for senior dogs.
There are a bunch of reasons we include algae-derived products and extracts in some of our formulations...here's why, in a nutshell.
Olive is a rich source of valuable nutrients and bioactive substances of medicinal and therapeutic interest. Olive fruit contains phenolic acids, and it’s these phenolic acids, and in particular, hydroxytyrosol, that’s behind the inclusion of olive fruit extract in our Hypoallergenic balancing pre-mix, designed to help support a healthy skin and coat.

Hemp oil is touted as the best thing since sliced bread for your dogs and cats, because it's rich in omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids in a perfect ratio of 3:1... But is that really true?

Read on to discover what fatty acids your dog really needs, why all fatty acids aren't equal, and the best sources...
