Cod liver oil

Fish oil is a good source of EPA and DHA. Theoretically, EPA and DHA can be derived from another omega-3 fatty acid, ALA. However, ALA is not efficiently converted to EPA and DHA in mammals, including humans and dogs. Cats cannot make the conversion at all.

The primary reason is the lack of an enzyme that can make the conversion possible. Therefore, when supplementing omega-3 fatty acids, fish oil is a more potent and efficient source of EPA and DHA as compared with products rich in ALA such as flaxseed, linseed, or canola oil.

Green lipped mussel

Green lipped mussel from NZ contains glycosaminoglycans, glucosamine and chondroitin, as well as zinc, and magnesium, all beneficial for good joint health. They are also a source of omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, Including but not only, DHA and EPA.

Farmed GSM are considered to be a sustainable source of LC-PUFA as they require no dietary inputs, gaining all of their oil by filter-feeding microorganisms from sea water

AlgaeCal

AlgaeCal is a powerful plant-based calcium that naturally contains all 13 bone-supporting minerals. It comes from Lithothamnion superpositum, a reddy-purple algae found in the waters off South America.

These kiwi-sized balls of living algae attach to seaweed on the ocean floor. The Algas calcareas naturally detach from the seaweed and eventually wash ashore where they can then be sustainably hand-harvested.

Probiotic bacillus coagulans

Bacillus coagulans has become a key player in the field of probiotics in recent years. It's involved in regulating the balance of the intestinal microbiota, promoting metabolism and utilisation of nutrients, and improving immunity. It's also super stable in manufacture, with high temperature resistance, acid resistance, bile resistance, etc.

Nutritional yeast

Nutritional yeast is a nutrient powerhouse.Ithas the 10 amino acids that dogs need, making it a complete source of protein. It's also chok full of B vitamins: vitamin B1 (thiamine), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), niacin (vitamin B3), vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), vitamin B7 (biotin), vitamin B9 (folic acid/folate), B12 (cyanocobalamin),as well as calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, selenium, chloride, sodium, and potassium.

Papaya

Many scientific studies have been able to consistently demonstrate the immune-boosting, anti-inflammatory activity, and disease-fighting properties of papaya.

The papaya plant has radical scavenging activity, enhances immune response, and reduces oxidative damage. Because of the various health benefits of papaya, many people call it the ‘nutraceutical plant’.

Kakadu Plum

The potent antioxidant activity of Kakadu Plum is attributed to vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) and ellagic acid, phenolic acid, and flavonoids that are present in significant quantities in the fruit and leaves.

Kakadu plum has five times higher antioxidant capability than the blueberry, which is renowned worldwide as the ‘health-promoting fruit’.

It contains 6 times the amount of polyphenols and 13.3 times more antioxidant activity than blueberries.

NinjinFibre (carrot fibre)

NinjinFibre® is a prebiotic, a key source of fermentable soluble fibre, which stimulates the creation of short chain fatty acids.

NinjinFibre® is also a powerful source of flavonoids and polyphenols. These have antioxidant properties and can help reduce inflammation, improve immune system function, and even promote better skin health. Flavonoids and polyphenols may also aid digestion, support liver function, and reduce cholesterol levels.

How much should I feed my dog?

For adult dogs, the Bestie Allrounder is always 5% of the meal. The overall quantity depends on the protein source. That's because different meat proteins provide a different amount of metabolisable energy. We take that into account, when we provide a feed guide.

The Allrounder is also suitable for puppies. But it's fed in a different ratio to adults. For puppies, Bestie Allrounder is always 10% of the meal.

The feed calculator below is based on feeding your dog, twice a day. It shows a per meal quantity, in grams.

This means that a:

350g pack will typically last a 10kg dog about 35 days, on beef

Bestie is the Best!

My two Border Terriers are thriving on their diet of raw meat topped with the allrounder. They absolutely love it. No more diarrhoea, no more itchy allergy rashes or ear infections. They have never been healthier or happier. It's been 7 months now and we won't be going back to that horrible kibble.
